Chinese Arrogance meets American De-Globalization
My point in case is the American Steel community getting the politicions to stop Chinese budget tires from being dumped on American soil. However the Tire Industry are not calling for such actions, mainly because as we all know competition is healthy, so this protectionism within America is causing the Chinese Tire Manufacturers who use Tire Distributors to sell their goods are now realling in the after effects of a global slow down and a ban in the US.
We have seen a large number of both alloy wheel and tire manufacturers who had previously shunned doing business with us now siding up to us to increase their sales.
The honest answer is we are not that accepting of the Chinese arrogance, we understand it, we just don't condone it, we tried once and you rejected us, don't think now your chips are down we will bail you out.
This world is set up to be inflated and deflate, the car industry bubble burst in the early part of this century with over 1000 car manufacturers in the United States, now with whats left of 4 remaining, the same will happen and is happening in China. Major Alloy Wheels and Tire manufacturers are close to if not bankrupt, only the government is aiding them.
China needs to suffer the same within itself but there is no mechanism for bankruptsy there let alone some shield like chapter 11 to hide behind. Beijing probably just shoots them between the eyes for failing, sorry correct lethal injections now, thats so much more humane.
Anyway to add, USA Falls, China suffers and bubbles burst. The government should take this opportunity to stop funding the factories through rebates of 17% on exports of such items like Alloy Wheels and let us all get back to a regulaor reformed market where all parts are equal.

BMW Wheels
The Germans make a great range of automobiles including premium brand names such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Porsche. These are generally considered to be more “up market” autos and their build standard is generally speaking, very high.
BMW (Bavarian Motor Works) began its corporate journey back in 1913 when a certain Herr Karl Friedrich Rapp created an Airplane Engine manufacturing company called Rapp-Motorenwerke, eventually to become the world renowned BMW. A testament to its early beginnings and still in use today is the circular shape of its logo which was borne from the circular image of a whirling propeller.
Now manufacturing much sought after autos, most of which are supplied complete with alloy wheels fitted to fulfil their class conscious image.
But a lot of top range auto manufacturers now go one stage further in the race to make their vehicles more attractive whilst at the same time reinforcing their brand image. This is of course the wheel hub badge or center cap. Most of the higher range makers supply these as standard, certainly with their top of the range autos. Unfortunately, there is a growing popularity, amongst young folk, to collect these items of finery, making it an expensive affair o have to constantly buy replacements from your dealer.
In the race to make their more modern models more attractive to the general public, most manufacturers have started to play around with the actual sizes of their wheels. The latest trend is to have a larger surface area of wheel on display, with a smaller, slimmer looking band of black rubber surrounding it.
You can also buy BMW Locking Nuts to protect your wheels from being stolen. Unfortunately, there is a growing trend for BMW wheel thievery, in some ways unwittingly strengthened by BMWs own desires to improve the looks of their products.
BMW wheel locks are supplied in sets of four (unsurprisingly), they are coloured black to match the black studs fitted as standard to all BMW vehicles, and they are supplied with especially coded heads that can only be unlocked by the specific key supplied with the set. Should you lose or misplace the key for your Wheel Locks, don’t despair, you can order a coded replacement from your nearest BMW dealership.
One word of caution, these Wheel Locks are only supplied in one standard factory manufactured length, and, if you your BMW has wheel spacers fitted, you are going to be disappointed: they won’t fit.

Alloy wheels
Alloy wheels are more difficult to knock out of shape than their steel counterparts but they are also more difficult to know back into shape if they have been ‘kerbed’. The reason for this lies in their unique bonding of molecules which maintain the tensile strength of the alloy and, due to the nature of the alloy, knocking back into shape can damage the fabric of the alloy. For the same reason, alloy wheels need to be the correct fit for the car. If either the wheels or the tyres are too wide for the suspension to take the steering will be compromised and the automobile’s handling reduced, lowering the safety margin of the vehicle. Fitting the correct alloy wheels to your car actually increases handling power by diminishing the gyroscopic effect of the wheels and reducing the overall recoil effect.
Alloys used in the best kind of wheels are aluminium based but experimental research has looked at the use of magnesium in the manufacture of lighter wheels, although this project was dropped by Easton following the death of two workers from inhalation of magnesium. Superlite design alloy wheels which are particularly aesthetically pleasing to the discerning motorist. Superlite has an international division although it is UK based and manufactures top of the range tyres for the motor circuit and for road use in the luxury end of the automotive market.
All Superlite’s wheels have been passed by all the motorsport and road safety legislation in all the major countries, such as the SEMA in the USA, the WIA in Australia, the JWL in Japan and the BS.AU50 in the UK. The alloy wheels manufactured at the Superlite manufacturing base are first designed in the minutest detail through CAD/CAM graphics and, only when passed the first QA testing procedure on design, do the prototype models get made. The materials used are aluminium alloy which has been heat treated and allowed to harden naturally, and which meets the BS9002 standard fro raw materials.
The whole of the manufacture process is computer controlled, using low pressure procedures. During each of the stages QA checks are made to ensure elasticity is in correct proportion to stress and strength and the appropriate finish is achieved in the material’s grain. The QA procedure includes regularly X-raying the product at various stages, having steel inserts inserted for additional strength and being further heat treated to ensure continuity of strength throughout the whole manufacture procedure.

Aftermarket Wheels
Aftermarket wheels are those that are taken off of a new car and placed into storage by dealerships. There is nothing wrong with the aftermarket wheels they just were not what the customer wanted when purchasing a new car. Dealerships resell these extra aftermarket wheels to auto parts and garages where you can purchase them for your own vehicle.
The prices are usually little cheaper then purchasing new ones and you get the same quality as a new one off the floor. So has this changed the way people purchase automotive parts namely wheels? Yes the sales increase of the aftermarket wheels has risen in America in the past few years to an astonishing twenty thousand increase for the last year. This is huge in contribution when aftermarket wheels have become more popular, and seem to increase the sales department of most wheel providers.
Chances of you though finding the exact aftermarket wheels for your car that you want are slim in deed beggars can not be choosers, and to get the exact is rare. Because not everyone changes wheels at time of car purchase, to some people they do not even know they can. So, when you see such a great deal in aftermarket wheels you should jump on it and know you got a whopping sales special on the automotive wheels of your choice. As we see the growing industry of aftermarket wheels sales increase, this means that regular auto sales is up as well, which is a great thing in today’s economy.
We do need to see the economy increase and aftermarket wheels may fit some ones budget more better then paying the top dollar for the same name make and quality of wheels from a store provider.
So, in truth car companies know that a new buyer may change up some of the features on the standard equipment of a vehicle and one maybe wheels. In turn they allow buyers to pay a cheaper cost for aftermarket wheels with a savings of close to forty five percent, providing you find the right type of aftermarket wheels that will fit your car. So when you’re shopping around for new wheels and want a great deal ask the shop if they have any aftermarket wheels that will fit your make and model of vehicle and save yourself some money.

Alcoa Wheels
Alcoa wheels are moulded into a single piece to prevent fatigue cracks appearing at weld joints. The alcoa wheels are an alloy composite which is heat treated to ensure enhanced tensile strength. This forging ensures the grain runs in the correct way, in the direction of the wheel’s contours, thereby maximising strength. Aluminium alcoa wheels retain their brightness and sheen due to patented technology, DURA-BRIGHT® WHEELS with XBR® TECHNOLOGY. This surface treatment reduces the need for maintenance, with alcoa wheels only needing to be washed in soap and water, with no polishing required. Dura-Bright® Wheels with XBR™ Technology keep their shine and never need to be polished.
Alcoa wheels have corrosion-resistance built into their manufacture and, due to their high specification and particularly light weight, the vehicle’s overall weight is reduced, providing a smoother ride with less weight on the suspension, improving traction while cornering. To show the manufacturers’ confidence in their alcoa wheels, they offer a limited five-year warranty on most of their products. This is especially good news for commercial vehicles as the wheels forged for this market are particularly strong, lightweight and corrosion efficient, with rim wear protected by Dura-Flange Wheels.
The first forged aluminium truck wheel was invented in 1948 by Alcoa and Alcoa Inc is now at the forefront of alumina products, including that manufactured by Alcoa Wheel Products. No products in the alcoa wheels range have any form of welding to weaken the finished wheel and have been approved by the Society of Automative Engineers under Code SAE J267. Heat treating to specific temperatures ensures the metal is fully tempered to within coded ranges for aluminium alloys to provide the tensile strength and flexibility expected from this quality of wheel. Additional processing such as painting and welding are avoided as this prevents full compliance with the Federal Motor Vehical Safety Standards (FMVSS).
It has been noted by the QA procedures that any amendment or alteration that is in addition to the actual heat tempering of the forged alloy could result in the alloy shrinking or cracking, or breaking while under stress with the result that wheel cracks could form and the tyre could separate from the alcoa wheel while being inflated or mounted, with the potential for a fatal accident occurring.
